Mike Dopp

Spec sheet

Mike Dopp · DevOps, SRE and AI automation

I automate everything that ships or breaks: deployments, releases, certificates, failovers, hardware and software. That’s 20+ years in enterprise infrastructure, more than ten of them in DevOps and automation, mostly across Azure, AWS and the Windows systems underneath them.

What I do

  • Release pipelines. Azure DevOps Classic and YAML pipelines, release definitions and REST integrations, including multi-region release pipelines into AWS. Octopus Deploy workflows from dev to test to prod.
  • Reliability. Pipeline-gated failover with state-aware validation: a two-datacenter database failover cut from 35+ minutes to under 10. High availability, monitoring, alerting and root-cause work across app, network and data layers.
  • Certificates and secrets. Vault-to-binding certificate lifecycle across 20+ servers, with verification and expiry alerts. PKI and TLS, service principals and secrets management.
  • Build and provisioning. Server and application-stack builds driven from config files, which cut setup time 50%. 4,000+ reusable PowerShell functions for releases, load balancers, diagnostics and config validation.
  • AI automation. AI coding agents held to versioned templates and gated by parser, security, lint, test, build and smoke checks. Local models, RAG and embeddings that keep sensitive data on the machine.

Highlights

  • Database failover across two datacenters: 35+ minutes to under 10.
  • On-prem to AWS move with a small DevOps team I led: infrastructure costs down 30%.
  • Config-driven server builds: setup time down 50%.
  • Local RAG search over 28,914 chunks: 21.8 s to 30–50 ms per query.
  • Four peer-nominated awards in three months for automation work.
